As i already mentioned in a previous post, 2017 is the year we go back to the original and Polaroid brand is not an exclusion to it. This year on September 13 the brand celebrates its 80th birthday. A few weeks ago Polaroid announced the release of an old classic.
From my post on Polaroid History you might remember that Polaroid One Step was released in 1977 and became the best selling camera in America shortly after its release. Now, 40 years later Polaroid launches Polaroid One Step 2 under the new company called Polaroid Originals.
The camera is fully analog and awesome! The camera is compatible with 600 type film and the new I type film. The new thing in One Step 2 is the rechargeable lithium-ion battery (1100 mAh) that can last up to 60 days. You can charge the battery via USB port.
The design is similar to the original, but it posses better quality - the lens are a 106mm with fixed focus range from 6cm (2 feet) to infinity.

In 1997 Polaroid partnered with Spice Girls to create the Spice Camera.
The camera is variation of the 600 line and it has a rounded body with an adjustable hand strap, and is perfect for beginners. I was not able to find more information about the camera and how many of them were produced but i found a few ads on the internet.

The making of the commercials
The story of Polaroid start with its founder Edwin H. Land. in 1926 he leaves Harvard and two years later he files the patent for the first synthetic polarizer.
In 1939 Polaroid already produces glasses, 3D glasses, dark-adapter goggles for the Army and navy and etc. In the same year Chrysler Corporation presents 3D movie you could watch with Polaroid 3D glasses, the movies is displayed at the 1939 World`s Fair in New York, and its the first 3D movie american crowd experiences.
1943 is the year in which the idea of instant photography is born. While on vacation the daughter of Mr. Land asks him why she cant see herself right after taking the photo, this day is the day instant camera and photography were born (as we know them).
21.02.1947 is the day the first instant Polaroid camera is presented in front of an audience and it wows the crowd during meeting of Optical Society of America.

The Model 95 Land camera becomes the prototype for all Polaroid Land cameras produced during next 15 years.
In 1956 the one millionth Polaroid camera is produced and is sold worldwide being in whopping 45 countries.

The camera was first sold in 1972 Miami, Florida at a price of 180$ (1,052.97$ in 2017), the same year sir Lawrence Olivier becomes a spokes person for the SX-70 and by the fall of 1973 was sold nationally.
By 1977 Polaroid create yet another camera, dubbed the world`s simplest camera, Polaroid one step becomes a best seller surpassing even conventional cameras. The price is 39.95 (or 161.20 in 2017)

Next in line is the Polaroid Captiva produced in 1992 and it was priced between 119$ and 139$ (around 201.37 and 235.22 in 2017)
In 1998 Polaroid creates the iconic Impulse camera that is similar in body to One Step and Pronto!

The Polaroid One Step is reissued in 1997 with a new design with round edges. Two years later we have a new brilliant idea and design the Polaroid IZone camera, an instant pocket-sized camera in a wide range of bright colors. The camera's thumbnail-sized prints.

The next camera of the new and more modern line is Polaroid snap released in 2015. A year later in 2016 Polaroid announces the release of Polaroid Snap touch. A touch screen instant camera at Photokina festival in Cologne, Germany, September 20, 2016.
The latest camera they announced was on 5th of January 2017 at CES in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This year the company is celebrating its 70 year anniversary since the release of the first instant Polaroid Camera.
