New: Lomo'Instant Square camera

September 11, 2017

2017 is the year of going back to the basics and instant cameras are in on the trend. We are going back to the classic Polaroid square format, moving forward from the mini and wide rectangular formats of respectfully instax mini & wide camera range.

Lomography company takes notes from the trends happening in this day and age and is working quickly to please its instant fan lovers.

As you might have learnt from my post on instant Lomo cameras (Lomography Instant Camera History), the Lomography company has made it a custom to fun their instant camera projects via www.kickstarter.com
The company has put a lot of faith in its fans and product, since the pledge is all or nothing.
As per usual the support was overwhelming and the camera project managed to get to its original pledge amount in just 5 hours! It was launched on 29.August.2017 and at the moment of writing this post 10.09.2017 the project has 2,855 and now has reached $490,136 and there are 19 days to go.
The amount of support  for this instant camera produced by the Lomography company is not surprising for me, seeing how well previous projects did.

The first to dip in the new trend was instax with their square 10 model.
Now, the Lomography company is presenting their square camera version, but what is unique about it is that it is fully analogue in contrast with the digitalized instax version.
The camera has some new cool features such as: 95mm glass lens that will allow the user to take sharper images.(An issue often faced by instant camera users)
Remote control and self timer, meaning that you can take a picture being fat from the camera, with it.
We  still have the creative features that are persistent with all of the Lomo`instant cameras and the color gel options. As well as long exposure, multiple exposures.
Built in flash on/off mode, exposure compensation and much more.

Besides the classic square format is the new foldable design, bringing us a feeling of the classic Polaroid SX70 part of the golden era of instant photography. The camera has built in flash guide and an indicator for the amount of film you have in the camera. The permanent colors will be four - Black, Pigalle, Ginza and White while the blue one from the first photo is exclusive for kickstarter backers. My favorite color must be the brown one, it brings back that vintage feeling of the original Polaroid cameras.

From what i can make up on the project page, there will be two package options when the camera hits shelves: one will be the basic with just the camera and remote control shutter release and colored gel flash filters, (as previous models have) and the other will be the premium which means what you get in the basic box + portrait glass lens and splitzer.
As for accessories for the camera, Lomography is planing on creating a dedicated camera bag for this model

The camera is supposed to start shipping in February/March of 2018 for $199.
